Medical Research - Basic And Clinical

One may think that medical research is all the same. However, that is not true. In fact, the term medical research is divided into two parts, basic and clinical research. The activities included in the primary research is the research and the studies and the activities included in the secondary research is only concerned with the summarization of all the data collected and the study done for the research of the medications. The secondary research also includes the reviews and the meta-analyses.

Though, there are many areas of the medical research the three main areas of the medical research are the basic and clinical research and the epidemiological research, sometimes behavioral health research is also added. Basic medical research is also known as experimental research. It includes all the experiments conducted on animals. Apart from studies conducted on animals, it also includes study of the cell, and genes. Other considerations include biochemical, physiological study, investigations, and also the study of specific properties that makes the drugs and materials. Because at least one of the variables is varied in the basic medical research, there is a need to find the effects of the variables that is dependent.

This procedure of the experiment and the manner in which it will be conducted can be specifically mentioned, and implemented. This form of an experiment needs to have a validity that is external, and at times, this is very difficult. Clinical research includes not just the experiment part of it but the observation part of it too. The experimental part is called interventional and the observation part of it is called non-interventional study. The interventional study includes the studies that are conducted on medical devices and the physical, surgical procedures are also examined. The main aim of this form of study is to make a comparison between the procedure followed in treatment of a patient and to the entire population.

The different forms of therapies include prescribing a drug or conducting an operation. It could also mean suggesting going on a diet or rehabilitation measures. Weight loss is considered one of the most basic trigger factors to a number of ills today. The studying of the vaccine also is a form of Clinical research and it is interventionist form of study. This form of study is very popular in Germany and the Clinical research is done under the guidance of the AMG. Thus, in short, basic medical research is more hands-on as it involves experiments, and research, and Clinical research is more of the summarizations and conclusions drawn from research conducted.

Medical research calls for the use of human ingenuity and a selfless serving attitude. It is a passion and does not come without labor and discredit when things don't always go right. The sphere of influence of medical research is vast and touches each one of us in some way or the other. It is imperative to know about the arena and become aware of the wonder drugs yet to be unveiled and still in test tubes of dedicated researchers, through their notes.
